Top Trail Rider and Ambassador, Jill Morrison, and her Top Trail Horses have been a part of this fabulous tracking/logging program for many years, and I’m proud to have interviewed her here for your enjoyment. You might find out a few things you didn’t already know about this class act rider of buckskins (I do SO adore a buckskin!?).
Therefore, today’s Top Trail Member Spotlight shines its light on this most experienced rider who hails from from North Carolina. Let’s get a brief look inside Jill’s world by seeing how she answered my interview questions.
Jeans for me. I’m too fat and old for breeches.Jill Morrison on whether she prefers to ride in Jeans or Breeches ?
Hey Jill! Thanks for taking some time off the trail to answer these questions for us! Without further ado, here we go!
TTH: Jill, you’ve been a member of the Top Trail Program much longer than I have. How long HAVE you been tracking & logging?
JM: I started with Top Trail in 2016 with my horse Teddy. I rode 370.449 that year on 3 different horses.
TTH: Fantastic first year, Jill! I see you were quickly hooked on mileage tracking by the “.449” on your mileage. ?
TTH: So, how many equines do you own? I know you’ve got to have more than one buckskin in that stable.
JM: We now have 5 horses. Teddy, Baby, Billy, Girlfriend and Dodge.
TTH: Five? Oh my!!! How do you choose who to ride? ?
TTH: Alright, Jill. This is a highly personal question here now: Jeans or Breeches?
JM: Jeans for me. I’m too fat and old for breeches.
TTH: Ha! Too fat? Too old? Come on now. You and I both know that those beautiful creatures (as we) love you with no thought of age or weight .? And, you truly ARE only as old as you wanna be.
TTH: Alright now, I always ask people this one. What do you consider to be your FAVORITE horse movie?
JM: My favorite movie is Last of the Dogmen.
TTH: I can’t say as I’ve seen that one, but I’m certainly going to check it out! Barbara Hershey and Tom Berenger? It’s gotta be great! Thanks for the suggestion!
TTH: Alright Jill, last question. Do you remember the first horse you rode? Tell us about it!
JM: The first horse I rode was Big Mike, my uncle’s race horse. That was exciting!
TTH: Ah…yes!!! I exercised race horses when I was like 13, and the sheer speed was exhilarating! In fact, truth be told: I STILL have a “need for speed” which I attribute directly back to those sessions. Looking back, I’m astounded my folks even allowed that ?.
Thank you, Jill, for participating in this interview AND for being such an integral part of the Top Trail Program. Your mileage and horsemanship are inspiring and enviable. I thoroughly enjoyed your responses, and I’m certain the rest of the TTH community will, as well!
And a big Thank You to you readers for keeping the Top Trail Horse Blog on your reading list.
