I grew up loving horses from a distance, as I never had the opportunity to ride more than the occasional summer camp or trail ride. At 26 years old, I began taking lessons in natural horsemanship and 5 months later I ended up with my first horse. Ace is a Missouri Fox Trotter gelding who was born in 2014. Having suffered from a pelvis fracture, Ace had a good prognosis but was at risk of euthanasia due to his owners moving. I took him with the understanding that he may only be pasture sound. He introduced me to the world of equine rehab and bodywork. Ace recovered and is now rideable (despite having an uneven hip due to the former break). He is still new to trail riding, but he is taking it in stride and improves every ride we take. I love spending time in nature with my friends and this lovable man. I also enjoy trail riding wherever I travel and have made it my goal to ride a horse in every U.S. National Park (where riding is permitted) and every state. We’ll see where that takes me.
