The Top Trail Horse Program has many fabulous members, and this week’s Member Spotlight on Carole Sharp is no different. Here are the details from our interview:
TTH: Carole, how long have you been a member of Top Trail Horse?
CS: I’ve been a member of Top Trail (originally thru Open Trail) since 2014. Though I didn’t fully understand or start logging my rides until 2016 ( I think, would need to look it up)
TTH: How many horses do you own, and what are their names?
CS: I have 2 Missouri Foxtrotting mares.
Miracle’s Rising Star (aka Summer). 18 years old
Moon’s Autumn Mist (aka Misty). 11 years old
Misty is out of Summer. And Misty is currently being bred. ??

TTH: Breeches or Jeans?
CS: Only jeans.
TTH: How many times a week do you ride?
CS: Currently unable to ride because of a broken leg. Hope to be back in the saddle mid July. I’m pretty much a fair weather rider, so living in NE Missouri most of my riding is March- Nov. I’m not fond of road riding so don’t do that often, but from March-November I usually camp and trail ride at least a couple of weeks each of these months some day rides in between trips.
TTH: Well, we sure hope your leg is feeling better. I know how frustrating that is. Next question: Barefoot or Shod?
CS: As most places I ride are very rocky my horses are shod pretty much on a 7 week schedule with their shoes pulled late Nov. and reshod in March.

About Dawn E. Hagen
I've been riding for over 40 years and have picked up a few tips and tricks over that time. I’m no pro by any means, but I’ve got all sorts of fun facts and information to share. I've been a barrel racer, a hunter/jumper, a dressage student, a race horse exerciser, a stall cleaner, and (my favorite), a good ole trail rider. I'm now writing content on topics related to trail riding, mileage tracking, riders, program sponsors, and the horses we all love so well. I'm a mother of 3 (now adult) kiddos, and two adorable grandchildren: all of whom I adore. I live with my boyfriend and best friend, Tim, in Las Cruces New Mexico. We have two very spoiled dogs and my Top Trail Horse, the lovely Miss Layla.
